Why is Sacramento the capital of California?
In 1849 the headlines stated “Gold!” and that year along 70,000 gold seekers made their way to California. The first gold was found near Sacramento and then this city became the gateway to the gold region, and for that reason at that time was the most important city of California, which a year later would become formally a US state. The only city in California at that time that could compete for being the capital was San Francisco, the port on which most of the gold seekers coming from oversees entered the continent, but it wasn’t as important as Sacramento at that time.
