Why is recycled polyester better than virgin polyester?
There are two primary reasons we think recycled polyester is better than virgin polyester. First, it uses plastic bottles, which would most likely end up in a landfill otherwise. Despite the progress that has been made with municipal recycling, less than 30% of plastic bottles are recycled in the United States. Second, it takes a lot less energy (estimated at 70% less) to make recycled polyester than it takes to make virgin polyester. On top of all that, it is just plain fun to tell your friends that you wear trash. Not so cool or sexy to say, I wear virgin polyester.
