Why is Rebuilding TogetherSavannah needed?
The number of low-income homeowners across the nation increases each year. The current 24 million low-income homeowner families are expected to grow to an astonishing 28.5 million by the year 2010. In the City of Savannah alone, it is estimated that more than 4,400 homes currently meet this definition of need. More and more families are placed in the position of choosing between vital necessities such as food or medicine and a roof which does not leak. Disabled homeowners cannot afford the modifications to allow them to age in place and remain in their own homes. Rebuilding Together-Savannah works to ensure that as many of these families as possible do not have to make these difficult choices.
