a. Maybe he’s a ‘bad seed’. Or maybe he had a traumatic childhood that twisted his personality somehow. Or maybe he went crazy sometime in his life. Or maybe, he’s just a jerk. What is certain is that while Ratigan is as highly intelligent as Basil (and frankly, just as arrogant and egotistical–sorry, Bas!), he is the exact antithesis of everything that Basil stands for–and he’s quite happy that way.
