Why is rapid fire restricted?
Reply: The simple answer is safety. A high percentage of the people shooting on our range are not trained and/or sufficiently practiced in rapid fire (more than 2 shots per second) shooting to ensure that the point of aim is on target for each shot. The tendency is for the muzzle of the fire arm to climb with each shot and far to often, the third an successive shots will actually pass over the top of the berm. Until such time as we establish an in-club means to qualify rapid fire shooters, It is policy for the range officer to allow rapid fire only by prior request by those shooters who can show evidence of their qualification by possession of current IDPA, IPSC, NRA Action Pistol or NRA Action Pistol Certified Instructor membership/rating ID cards and also when such activity will not (in the opinion of the range officer) interfere with the safe and orderly operations of the range.
