Why is racial and ethnic diversity so important to Holy Cross?
Equity in and access to education were founding principles of the College of the Holy Cross and to the Society of Jesus. On this campus, it began when Father Thomas Mulledy, S.J., enrolled the sons of a slave knowing that while it may have been illegal in the minds of some, it was the right thing to do. Our history is replete with many similar stories. As a result, our alumni base contains outstanding men and women too numerous to count, who serve their communities and better society at large. As an institution we will continue to open our doors to qualified students, in our ongoing task to educate men and women for others.
