Why is Qantas reducing base commission levels?
Qantas continues to face many challenges moving forward. They include, fierce competition, the cost of managing a heightened security environment and significant increases in the cost of fuel. The market is increasingly competitive, placing downward pressures on Qantas yield. This means that customers are paying lower airfares than ever before. Against this pressure of increased costs and declining yields Qantas must continue to focus on reducing costs across the Qantas Group, including selling and distribution costs.
