Why is published program information sometimes incorrect?

Most publications receive their programming information well in advance – up to 4 weeks prior to the actual airdate. Most of these publications operate with advance deadlines, which average almost 10 days prior to the date in question. Program changes submitted after these deadlines cannot be reflected on the schedules. Some services can reflect changes much closer to the airdate, but there is always some deadline involved with submitting changes. The NBC Network, NBC2 and the various publications make every effort to notify and reflect all changes – but that is not always technically possible. Many times NBC2 will alert viewers to last minute changes on air – at the bottom of the TV screen.
