Why is premises identification necessary?
Premises identification is a powerful tool for protecting animal and human health. The ability to know where various species are located in the state allows for a quick, effective response to animal disease outbreaks. Without knowing where poultry are located ahead of time, the response effort takes much longer and is less efficient, providing more opportunity for the disease to spread. Premises information is useful for all animal disease outbreaks, regardless of livestock species. Additionally, many foreign countries and food purchasers for major companies are becoming more specific about the meat they will buy, and are requiring more records to be kept. Premises identi
