If your PowerPanel® Plus display looks like the following, then the software is unable to communicate with the hardware. The most common reasons the software is not communicating are: The serial cable is not connected. The serial cable is connected to the wrong port. The software is set to the wrong port. The software has been loaded more than once. The COM port is not active or it has a conflict. TROUBLESHOOTING Check that the cable is securely connected to the UPS unit and the serial port on the back of the computer. Check to see if there is more than one port on the back of the computer. Once cable connections have been tested, click on the battery icon to bring up the PowerPanel Plus display. Click on the Setup button. Look for the “UPS is installed on” (see picture). This shows the port that is currently in use. Click the arrow button next to the box to open the COM port menu. Change the port to COM 1. Click the OK button.
