Gender inequality inhibits the participation of women in various economic activities. 4. Uncontrolled population growth increases pressure on available food supplies, arable land, habitable areas and limited employment opportunities. 5. Corruption among the leadership affects rapid development consequently, people remain poor and hungry. 6. Frequent occurrences of natural disasters like flooding, earthquakes, volcanoes, desertification and drought lead to poverty and hunger. 7.
