Why is pork prohibited in Islam?
Pork is prohibited in Islam because of being mentioned specifically in the Qur’an as a food which is forbidden to eat. There are, I believe, several reasons for this ban. Pork consumption has been proven to be harmful to human health, contributing to a litany of dieseases, and physical ailments. There is also evidence that what causes harm and disruption to our physical health also adversely affects our mental and spiritual well being. This is because the human being is created and fashioned by Allah as a harmonious and inter-related whole; with each system nourishing and providing energy and vitality for all the others. Aside from the very explicit and obvious Divine injunctions against the consumption of swine [pork] flesh, some medical reasons are high blood pressure, headaches, stomach disorders, painful joints, laziness, and larthagy.
