Why is Pluto a planet
Pluto is actually not currently considered a planet. This is because its orbit overlaps that of Neptune, and a planet must have its own orbit. Some scientists and astronomers argue that Pluto should have retained its planetary status, or that it should re-enter the category as a “dwarf planet”, but no formal decision has been made as to whether or not Pluto will be considered a planet again in the future.
