Why is Parenting Time Supervised?
There are many reasons for supervised parenting time and you shouldn’t draw the conclusion that the supervised parent has done something wrong. For example, sometimes a parent has been absent from a child’s life and is just now being introduced or reintroduced. It can often be in the best interests of the child if there is another party present during the early stages of parenting time to help the child understand this process. Also, a parent may have a medical condition which would make it dangerous for the child to be alone with him or her just in case something were to go wrong. This can sometimes depend on the maturity level of the child. But there’s no doubt sometimes supervised parenting time is implemented because of concerns about the parent’s conduct.
