Why is PAMF planning such a facility in San Carlos?
To accommodate growing patient demand and better serve the community as a whole, PAMF is building a state-of-the-art medical center in San Carlos closer to where many of our patients live and work. We currently serve more than 5,500 patients from San Carlos and tens of thousands more from the surrounding communities, and that number is growing. The PAMF Redwood Shores Health Center, just across Highway 101 from San Carlos, experienced a 42 percent patient growth rate during the past year alone. This growth led PAMF to open a second primary care clinic and a women’s health center in Redwood City. In addition, San Mateo County is about to experience a change in its demographics as baby boomers reach retirement age. The number of residents over age 65 will double by 2030 and the county’s total population will increase by more than 10 percent, creating greater demand for medical services in the future.
