Why is palladium a precious metal?
Precious metals are rare metallic elements of high economic value and that are chemically less reactive than other metals. Gold, silver, and the platinum group metals are generally identified to be the precious metals; palladium is in the platinum group. Palladium is recognised internationally to be a precious metal and is included as such in the international standard – ISO 9202:1991 “Jewellery – Fineness of precious metals”.
