Why is orientation mandatory?
IUP provides a mandatory International Student Orientation Program for all new students. You are required to attend; it is not optional. It will cover the basic and important issues that are relative to your ability to settle quickly into life at IUP and the Indiana community. Even if you have had previous experience in the United States, we ask that you attend. There is a charge for all students required to attend orientation. The formal orientation program begins at 9:00 a.m. in the HUB the day after the pizza party. A continental breakfast will be served buffet style. An orientation packet with the complete schedule of orientation sessions will be distributed at that time. Students are required to arrive for the first session on this day and subsequent sessions that will be held until classes begin.
Cal Poly Pomonas Orientation program has a strong track record in preparing new students for the academic rigors of our university. Our faculty are strong advocates for the advantage Orientation gives students in their success in their first year. You will develop an early personal connection to the university as well as a head start on your academic plan. By requiring your attendance, we can make sure you receive all the information you need to select courses (including an evaluation of previous college work), obtain academic advising, and take advantage of priority registration for classes. Although you may already be familiar with college, Cal Poly Pomona offers a unique campus culture, and orientation will inform you of the many opportunities and resources offered.
Orientation is mandatory because it sets the spiritual climate for the school year and allows students to make a final determination to attend MBI. Q: Is MBI accessible by public transportation?
