Why is Organic cotton better for the environment?

0

A. There are over a dozen different chemicals used in growing traditional cotton. When you make the organic cotton choice you are saving the earth from all of those harmful pesticides. Most cotton is now being grown out of the US where there are little controls over pesticide usage. The pesticides used in farming end up in ground water and run off into streams and lakes. It takes almost 5 years to clean up farm area where pesticides are used and much longer when ground water is contaminated. Organic farming uses natural substances to fertilize and protect crops from insects. Pests are also removed by hand which brings more labor to the farms and keeps the land free of harmful chemicals.
