Why is online presence so important?
“Online search is the primary tool most people rely on to do everyday research,” says Ken Cassar, senior director of analytics at Nielsen/NetRatings. People in the U.S. use the Internet for more everyday research than any other medium, and increasingly so. Nielsen/NetRatins reported a 55 percent increase in online searches in the U.S. from December 2004 to December 2005, with the number of online searches soaring from 3.3 billion to nearly 5.1 billion. By comparison, the number of Internet users in the U.S. rose merely 3 percent (to 207 million people) during the same time period.
