Why is Newham Council introducing timed waste collections?

0

In surveys you have told us that litter and rubbish on our streets are two of your top concerns. We want residents to be proud to live in Newham and for visitors to come back to our borough. This is why we are making every effort to ensure that streets are visibly cleaner. To achieve this we are increasing collections to twice a day, six days a week on our main streets, and asking residents and businesses to put out their rubbish for collection at certain times on set days. Previously residents only had one collection a week. Timed waste collections will mean that bags and bins on the main roads will be left on the street for collection for shorter amounts of time, making our streets look cleaner. It will also make it easier for people to get through the streets without so many bags and bins in the way.
