WHY IS NASW-NJ GOING GREEN?
At NASW-NJ, we want to help save the environment and reduce our carbon footprint. One way we’re doing that is by using less paper and by relying more on email and newSWire to get our messge out. In June, we’ll take yet another big step in cutting down on the paper we use. That month we will shift to an electronic edition of FOCUS, our bimonthly newsletter. While we’ll still print and mail some copies of FOCUS, we expect to send it to most NASW-NJ members electronically. As social workers we all want to reduce the impact environmental problems create for the underserved, the elderly, and minority populations. For example, we see the impact community gardens can have in urban areas and we know there are many other ways to improve the environment in our cities and reduce social problems. Social workers have always been in the forefront of societal change, and helping to save the environment is one more important step we must take. It’s time again for us to seize the opportunity to explore
