Why is NASA taking credit for India finding water on the moon?
If you noticed Google’s homepage had a very special logo to celebrate the discovery of water on the moon by America’s National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).That’s all very well, but why is everyone missing one vital point – INDIA’s ISRO-powered Chandrayaan-1 discovered water on the moon, two months before NASA did! Back on September 24th it was widely reported that India’s first lunar mission, the Chandrayaan-1 found evidence of large quantities of water on its surface. And it was said that the discovery would change the face of lunar exploration for the next decade. The unmanned craft was equipped with Nasa’s Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M3), designed specifically to search for water by picking up the electromagnetic radiation emitted by minerals.
