Why is my VW Bora car making loud metal grinding noises?

My car has been making loud metal grinding noises for around 2 weeks now, it happens when I drive the car and doesn’t seem to matter how fast I go. It sounds like the noise is coming from my left rear tire and it’s like metal scraping against the floor. I’ve had a look at my rear tire and under the car but can’t find anything wrong. I’m taking the car to the garage tomorrow to get it checked over but I just wanted a rough idea of what it might be. Thanks!
