Why is my horsefield tortoise sad?

sweetie he is not really missing your parents but what has happened is he has been moved to a new environment with different smells, moving tortoises always upsets them which is why you should never move tortoises unless necessary they can get stressed easily, you will find that when your parents are back and he is moved back to their house he will act in the same way, you might also find that as the days are getting shorter a tortoise will spend more time basking and start to eat less try and keep the uv light and the basking light on for 12 hrs a day and he will pick up, it is also important that you don’t handle him Too much at the moment until he settles unless he stops eating i would let him settle and get his bearing, but you will probably find it is just the move that has upset him, best of luck honey
