Why is my check/bank draft not drawn on “Dr.Mani Childrens Heart Foundation”?
For the same reason you cannot send your donation directly to the Foundation’s account. Until we have completed 3 years of activity, we need to seek permission from the Federal Finance Ministry on a case by case basis to bring foreign currency and contributions into India. Your donation sent by check or bank draft will technically be computed as my personal income, on which I will pay taxes – an expense I will gladly incur in the interest of the charity, unless it is for an unusually high sum.
