Your daughter is still very young. You can’t expect her to sleep the entire night all the time. Do you sleep the entire night without interruption (not counting baby)? Probably not, so you can’t expect your baby to. Night wakings for babies are normal, and at your daughter’s age, she’s getting a little older and more aware of her surroundings. Therefore, she’ll awaken more. In fact, as another answer indicated, her sleeping patterns will continue to shift over the next few months; again, that’s normal. Babies go through a whole host of physical discomfort issues and/or realizing the comfort of a parent isn’t readily available. I understand you want to encourage self-soothing (although you can’t expect this to happen all the time this young), but it’s our job as parents to also be available for comfort, even at night. Believe me, I know it’s frustrating, but it won’t last forever. Finally, just because your daughter breastfeeds briefly when she awakens doesn’t mean she’s simply looking
