Why is Mount Royal offering a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in accounting instead of continuing with the applied degree in accounting it now offers?

Responding to the changing needs of employers and students led to creation of the new Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. Current students and graduates of the applied degree programs can still continue on with their accounting designation from any of the three (3) national accounting bodies – Certified Accountants (CA), Certified General Accountants (CGA) or Certified Management Accountants (CMA). Going forward, the BBA is the new route for students to obtain their accounting designation. This degree will also enable Mount Royal graduates to more-readily pursue graduate study in Alberta and at other Canadian universities or move directly into employment.
