Why is mood/tone important to a story?

0

Well a mood/tone really sets the scene for how the story will go. It would be odd to have a really happy tone and mood and then have the novel be about an axe murderer. It would feel out of place and fake. The mood/tone gives the reader a subconcious feeling of how the story is going to go/ how they should be feeling about the story.
