Why is Monroe County excluded from the database?

0

The entire county is part of the Citizens Property Insurance Corporation “Wind Only” eligible areas. To be included in our database within a given county, the company who is accepting new business has to be writing homeowners insurance policies that includes hurricane coverage. Since all Monroe county residents have to buy wind coverage from Citizens, the county does not have a viable private insurance market for policies that include wind. If private insurance does become a viable option in Monroe County in the future, we will offer it as part of the Buyers Guide. Get the guide.
