Click the big Office button in the top left hand corner. Then click “Word Options” at the bottom. Then select “Proofing” on the left hand side. Make sure that the appropiate checkboxes under “When correcting spelling and grammar in Word” are checked. Also check for Exceptions by scrolling further down the page, underneath the other options I have given you. It might be that spelling and grammar checking are disabled for the current document only. Note to all: There is no Tools menu in Word 2007 because of the new Ribbon feature. 🙂 UPDATE: Regarding the “Hide spelling errors in this document only” exception, I would change the list box next to “Exceptions for:” to “All Documents” and ensure the checkbox is unchecked. If you are unable to do this, check if the file is read only.
