Why is Microsoft Office XP Professional a required software package under the WCU computer requirement?

0

WCU has many e-classrooms and computer labs that students have access to. These labs and classrooms house up-to-date computers that students can access for their work. All of the Windows 95/98 computers in these classrooms or labs are equipped with Office XP, and all Apple systems in these rooms are equipped with Office 2001 for Macs. We require incoming freshman to have Office XP Professional (Office 2001 for Apple users) because it will fulfill all tasks that the faculty will ask of students. It is the software used in the classrooms, labs, and on the faculties systems. Having Office XP solves any backward compatability issues with other versions of Office that may be encountered with using lab or classroom machines.
