Why is Mexican Coca-Cola made with real sugar and American Coca-Cola is made with Corn syrup?

Sugar can is more abundant in Mexico than is corn. For the production of High Fructose Corn Syrup in 2008, Mexico had to import from the US 80% of the corn used in that production. The US does not produce nearly as much sugar cane as it does corn, so the cost of using HFCS is more economical. However, anyone who has tasted cola made from real sugar verses HFCS will tell you, the real sugar cola is a better tasting drink. NAFTA, a piece of legislation I don’t agree with, has nothing to do with the sugar/HFCS issue. AND if the Mexicans would stay home instead of streaming across the border, SUGAR prices in the US would be lower. It is estimated that more than 300,000 Mexican Sugar cane workers headed north instead of staying in the Mexican cane fields during harvest time…
