Why is MBA sponsoring the 7 USSSA Tournaments at Palmer in 2010?
The USSSA tournaments at Palmer in 2010 are NOT officially sponsored by the MBA. These tournaments are part of a new Madison City / USSSA partnership, and they have the full support of the Mayor. They are intended to drive revenue for the city through retail, restaurant and hotel expenditures from the tournament participants. The economic conditions are hurting everyone, including the city. These tournaments will help maintain funding and improvements to Palmer Park. The City and USSSA will hold these tournaments with or without support from MBA so the MBA board feels that it is better to be a part of these tournaments and benefit from them rather than exclude ourselves from them and lose out on the opportunity. Palmer Park will benefit as a result of these tournaments and that is better for all of our league players.
