Why is Marvel so freely killing off so many of its characters?
Today I picked up this week’s comics at the shop, and after reading through a few of them got to X-Force #13. For those of you who don’t know, Marvel re-launched X-Force last year after a lengthy hiatus, putting a fresh spin on the old book’s militant focus. This new team, created in secret by Cyclops and led by Wolverine, engages in black ops missions to eliminate threats to mutantkind by any means necessary. The fact that the team’s loaded with blade-wielding mutants (Wolverine, X-23, Wofsbane, Warpath, Archangel) got the series jokingly dubbed “Claw Force” when it was first announced. But it’s actually an extremely good read, one of the best X-Titles out right now and easily worth picking up. Anyway, the current storyline has a mutant-hating militant group, led by the disfigured Leper Queen, spreading anti-mutant sentiment by turning mutants’ own powers against them. Infecting kidnapped mutants with an altered strain of the Legacy Virus, the group sets these infected loose in a crow
