Why is marketing research important to developing marketing strategy?
Answer Hello Brenda, This sounds just a little bit like a homework question, but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. Not everyone does research to fold into the development of a marketing strategy. It really depends on how much is already known about the market that is being entered. In general conducting research is advisable because it can help to prove or disprove the assumptions that are going into the creation or re-definition of a marketing strategy. A market research study can also help to identify trends that may not have played out in the market, but may be on the tops of consumers minds, or in their future purchase plans (say with cars and SUV’s ten years ago – or even now with SUV’s being replaced by better gas mileage cars. Let me know if that doesn’t help you very much and I’ll try again. If you can be more specific about your company, the knowledge level and industry that you’re in that would help a lot too.
