Why is marijuana illegal if the bible says its ok to heat it up for relaxation?
We know that Christianity teaches us not to be drunk with wine. By extension, any kind of intoxication makes us less intelligent, less able to love our neighbors, and less able to discern the Holy Spirit. Wine can certainly be a blessing, and Jesus clearly enjoyed drinking wine in moderation. Marijuana is a sedative-hypnotic, and it creates a very different type of intoxication. Marijuana induces a hypnotic state, making the user vulnerable to suggestions. Anyone who has been with a marijuana-using group of friends knows how easy it is to get “bummed out” by negative suggestions, e.g., that someone is a “narc.” This is because our critical thinking abilities are turned off under the influence of marijuana. In a dreamlike trance, you are unable to sort out the truth from the false.
