Margate Middle is at 67% of its capacity due to the density of students living within that boundary. Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) is a completely separate calculation from FCAT school grades. Pioneer Middle is the only middle school in Broward County to make AYP. In other words, both Margate Middle and Lyons Creek Middle did not make AYP. Margate Middle is No Child Left Behind choice school because it receives federal dollars by way of Title 1. Lyons Creek Middle is not a Title 1 school and therefore is not an AYP choice school. Across all choice schools throughout the District, it is predominantly incoming 6th graders who elect to take choice when offered an alternate school.
