Why is mandatory weigh-in on a Saturday?
It is on a Saturday because it takes the best part of the day to weigh and certify over 5,500 players and could not be accomplished during a working week day. All adults involved in Pop Warner are unpaid volunteers who have their own obligations during the working week. All returning families know this and plan accordingly. New families are made aware of this during registration, which for all teams in the Hockomock League takes place during February, March and at the latest early April, so they have time to plan around this requirement.
