Why is Magical Touch so important for patients?
Hair, for a woman, is a big deal . . . It’s transforming when a patient puts on a wig, blush and a little lipstick. They can still carry on with life and feel good about how they look. How does Magical Touch operate? We operate totally by donations and each patient can receive one wig (free of charge). The cost of wigs varies widely from $30 to $500 . . . We don’t do special orders. We have several hundred to choose from now. I’m pretty good at picking styles that are versatile on most facial shapes and a variety of colors. What’s your advice to women as they begin looking for a wig? I encourage them to try on multiple wigs. I do try to make it fun. When else are you going to be able to try on all these different colors and hairstyles? I make everyone try on a long red wig, just for laughs . . . But I can tell by the look on their face their eyes just light up when they find the one that looks like them. What makes your job the best or worst job? The patient interaction is the best. Th
