Why is Legg Perthes disease common to young boys?
actually your not wrong, but i wouldn’t call it common. It is avascular necrosis of the femoral captial epiphysis before closure of the plate. Usually occurs in 3-12 age group and there is a 5:1 male predominance. 10% of cases are bilateral. Primary causes are hereditary, trauma, endocrine, inflammatory, nutritional and circulatory. I’m not sure why the increased predominance in males, but my guess is due to the trauma factor. Hope this helps and good question.
