Why is Lassen Peak trail partially closed and when will it re-open?
A rock slide along the trail had occurred in early June 2009. Similar rock structures exist along the top half of the trail. The integrity and safety of the trail is compromised and extensive trail work needs to be completed before hikers can be permitted. The first 1.3 of 2.5 miles is open to hikers. Work is expected to be completed by summer of 2010.
