Why is laser more effective than IPL for hair removal?
At Skin Solutions we have worked with both modalities, and the laser is the gold standard in the market for hair removal. Our experience has been that using IPL for hair removal requires more treatments. Experts explain that the wavelength used in IPL hair removal isn’t long enough to reach the follicle to effectively remove the hair. Lasers used in the skincare field that are similar to ours have been FDA-approved for laser hair reduction. (In addition, our laser is approved to control pseudofolliculitis barbae and ingrown hairs.) Our patients generally attain 80% permanent hair reduction, plus or minus 20% re-growth that is finer, lighter and thinner, following four treatments.
