The OpenOffice.org package dependencies were very broken at the time the 1GB membercard was created. There is no personal preference or political / freedom issue with OpenOffice.org that was the cause of this switch; the FSF does not recommend KOffice over OpenOffice.org (or vice versa); this was purely a technical necessity to get the cards out the door.
