Why is Klaha so frequently compared with Gackt?
Klaha was originally a replacement vocalist for Malice Mizer’s second main vocalist, Gackt. Since then, it seems like he’s been living in Gackt’s shadow (there are people out there who don’t like him simply because he’s not Gackt). First they were often compared as Malice vocalists, then when he released his first solo album in Dec. 2002, the casual look and pop-ish music were a flashback of Gackt’s debut as a solo artist to long-term Malice fans. Since then, the fear among fans has often been that “he’s turning into Gackt”. Actually, if you look closer, the two men are quite different in personality and style. While to the unaccustomed ear their vocals sound similar, I think this is the result of Mana’s taste in hiring lead vocalists more than anything (Juka from Mana’s new band Moi Dix Mois has often been described as Gackt and Klaha’s voice rolled into one).
