“Why is Jesus still worshipped, despite clearly fitting the “Mythical Hero Archetype…?” Jesus was the antithesis of the mythic hero archetype. The heroes are represented by the likes of Gilgamesh, Beowulf, Achilles, Odysseus, Aeneas, and others, all hard-charging he-men. The character of Jesus has been painted, whitewashed, repainted, and touched up by 1000s of scribes over the centuries. His gender identity is ambiguous. We don’t know if he was straight or gay, although he preferred the company of men. There was nothing heroic about him.
