Why is Japanese comics called manga and Japanese animation called anime?
because Manga is the Japanese word for comics and Anime is the japanese abbreviation for animation (the japanese love abbreviating things), and since manga and anime are from Japan, it seems appropriate to call them by their japanese names. if everyone went by your logic, the germans would call “wurst” sausages and the British would call “chips” french fries however, in Japan, they sometimes call manga “Komikku” which is the english word comic written in katakana, which goes with your idea. In the past, anime was called Japanimation by the rest of the world, but the term has fallen out of use.
