Why is it when we set our clocks back, it seems like it gets dark 3 hours earlier?
Personally, I think that it feels like it gets dark so much sooner because we aren’t really noticing the gradual shortening of the days, but then we get the sudden change that it is getting dark an hour earlier that makes it more noticeable that the days are getting much shorter. For me I think another factor is that because I live in the northern part of the U.S. the result of daylight savings is that it was getting noticeably dark around 3:30 this afternoon, which is just too early. It is very different to have the sun completely set by 5 pm than it is to have it completely set by 6pm. I now look forward to spring when we will get the jump forward. I prefer having more darkness in the morning than in the evening.
