In almost every song on the radio my sistas are being referred to as a B.I.T.C.H, Hoe or Trick. I believe it’s because the rap industry is biased and the Hip Hop culture has been slighted. Real Rappers such as Common, Mos Def, Rakim, and Talib Kewli don’t get as much air time on radio stations as the mediocre artists who curse in every other verse, disrespect African American women and promote drug use and criminal activity. These lyrics create a bias for the rap industry creating the belief that rap music is violent. Hip Hop culture in turn is slighted and this is because the Top Executives and CEO are in the music business to make money regardless of the negativity that is portrayed in the songs such as the references toward African American woman. Real rappers are censored because their music holds substance.
