Why is it that Seal hunting is so bloody?
It depends on who is hunting. Some hunters are traditional inuit hunters and want to hunt in the traditional way also. So, using a club was the traditional way to hunt seals. The way they do it is they wait by a seal hole and wait for the seals to come up through the hole. Once the seal’s head comes up from the surface, the hunters club them over the head. Ive also seen some guys hunting the seals with a rifle. But hunting seals with a rifle still is bloody. Because the seals are at sea level, their blood is quite runny, and that is why seal hunting looks bloody, but it is not as cruel as the SPCA or Green-Peace or whoever is looking after the seals make it. The seals just have a lot of runny blood in them that gets all over the ice and snow. That is why it is so noticeable also.
Well, hunting overall is bloody. The way a person or group hunts is dependant on their skills, or beliefs (taking into consideration hunters in the North; they usually use traditional hunting methods) But in all essence, a seal carries a lot of body fat – it has to to survive up in the north. This makes the creature, for a lack of better words, have more blood in its system too. To kill an animal means either hitting it through the head or slitting its neck… using a club is a quick way to do the first method. You knock the creature out into a unconcious state therfore allowing you to do other things to it – i guess you can also call it humane in some ways.
