Why is it that questions that should obiously be adressed to a vet are instead asked here????
I disagree with one point. People are stupid and lazy with their own health. People die every day from treatable ailments that they think they’ll keep an eye on and hope that it goes away, some sort of denial I would think. A treatable cancer goes unchecked until it has metastasized throughout the entire body. Anyway, this attitude unfortunately carries over to pets on a much larger scale. I admittedly watched a dog have two seizures before contacting a vet only to be informed it was kidney failure due to antifreeze poisoning. Being much older and wiser, I would act swifter now if not only to have the animal put down. In conclusion, I would say that this will always be a problem in a pet-driven society. Every one likes the cute puppies and kittens, but fewer can or will develop these feelings into a lifelong commitment that will serve the needs of an aging pet.
